LAHORE: Lahore High Court on Friday temporarily restrained the federal tax ombudsman from invoking contempt of court powers. The court was hearing a petition by Advocate Akram who contended that the federal tax ombudsman was using contempt of court powers under Article 204 of the Constitution which was unconstitutional as the office of the FTO was created as a result of a statutory law and could not use constitutional power. The court stopped the FTO from using contempt of court powers till a final decision on the petition was taken.
