New beginning: AIOU opens admissions for autumn semester

Requirement of GAT test for admission into MPhil, PhD programmes removed.

ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is accepting applications for secondary school certificate to PhD programmes for its autumn semester.

The admission forms and prospectus can be obtained from the sale points at the main campus, regional campuses and coordinating offices across the country. The applications and fee can be submitted in all branches of Bank Al-Falah, Habib Bank Ltd, First Women Bank and Allied Bank and at nominated branches of National Bank of Pakistan and Muslim Commercial Bank.

Overseas Pakistanis can download the admission forms from del.aiou.edu.pk. The last date to apply is September 5.

The forms have already been dispatched to all continuing students, however, if a student has not received the admission form, they should download it from the university website.

AIOU Director Admissions Syed Ziaul Hasnain said in line with the recent judgment of the Lahore High Court and a notification of the Higher Education Commission, the condition of GAT (General and Subject) test for admission into MPhil and PhD programmes has been removed. All departments will conduct their own entry tests instead of the GAT test by the National Testing Service.
