JOHARABAD: In Gadi Budhanwali Khushab an 18-year-old boy severed his aunt Amina’s head because of a family dispute over property.

According to police officials, Amina and Kashif had quarreled over the distribution of property shares after which the youth flared up and severed her head.

Locals found out about the murder when a small boy saw the incident take place from the roof of his house in the same neighbourhood. However, when the villagers tried to intervene, Amina’s family refused to allow anyone to enter the house.

“That was when we called the police,” said  neighbour Jalal, adding that the family insisted nothing had happened and that it was all a ‘family matter’.

Police officials said that locals had informed them about strained relations between the boy and his aunt.

“Apparently there were some property issues and Amina’s nephew was fighting for his share of family land,” Khushab station house officer (SHO) Muhammad Asif said, adding that after checking former records they discovered that Amina’s husband had also murdered his first wife. “He had decapitated her and then married Amina a year later,” he said.

SHO Asif has sent Amina’s body to the tehsil headquarters hospital (THQ) for an autopsy and has arrested her husband, while her nephew escaped the scene.
