LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday sought a reply from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman on a petition challenging a NAB inquiry against former managing director of the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO). Munawar Baseer submitted through his counsel that he had held the office of Pepco MD for seven months in 2007-08. He said several power production projects, including Samundri Rental Power Project, were launched during the period. He said NAB later launched an inquiry into alleged corruption and financial irregularities in the project and summoned him several times. He said he and his family were being harassed in the name of inquiry. He requested the court to declare the inquiry illegal and stop NAB authorities from harassing him and his family. Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sidhu issued a notice to the NAB chairman and sought his reply in 15 days.
