Water works: Rs7.4 billion approved

Said 78 water supply and 95 sanitation schemes would be upgraded in the province.

“The Punjab government has approved funds for the restoration of water supply and upgrading the sewerage schemes of the province,” said Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz said on Monday. He said 78 water supply and 95 sanitation schemes would be upgraded in the province.

He said of these, 41 would be completed in urban areas and 37 in rural areas. He said Rs3.2 billion had been budgeted for this purpose. He said of 95 sewerage schemes, 53 would be completed in urban areas and 42 schemes in rural areas. He said Rs3.18 billion had been allocated for these projects. He said the government had also approved Rs1 billion for 172 abandoned water supply schemes which would be completed in a year. He said Faisalabad had been allocated Rs98 million for seven water supply and sewerage schemes. He said plans had been drawn up for upgradation of water works across Faisalabad.
