KU Business School: All PhD, MPhil candidates fail test
Majority of these candidates passed their English test but could not score in their concerned subjects.
Out of a total of 78, 64 cleared their English test but later failed tests of their basic subjects. Likewise 17 out of 18 candidates who appeared for PhD test, cleared English test but they failed in the test of their primary subjects.
This development has raised few eyebrows regarding preparation and assessment of the test.

I apologise for my previous comment since there was a misunderstanding as two test conducted at kubs one for recruitment and other for mphil and phd candidacy. both results announced at the same date. she cleared the recruitment test at kubs. so tribune's news stands valid.
Oh come on..stop posting fake news...my sis n her classmate cleared this exam...as they r doin M phil leading to phd..
I shared this news on my facebook timeline, where one of my batch mate in Karachi University confirmed that her younger sister cleared the test with 60% marks in the same discipline where is the passing criteria was 50% marks. Additionally, she told that there are 16 students who cleared the same test.

@Ali Tanoli: Entrance test at Aga Khan University Hospital is considered highly reputable by all in Pakistan. Karachi has the most number of successful candidates, so let us not even go there. And of course Karachi wants jobs on merit. That should be the only way to go. You dont bring standards down but train people to reach the required level, hence merit should prevail and no quota whatsoever
It would be useful not to compare oranges with bananas. A PhD is a very different form of erudition and accomplishment than a time bound aptitude test.

@Faisal Arshad: MPhill and PhD are those two degrees whose curriculum or test basis should not be compromised at any cost. if the candidates failed it's their loss, not the admission committee at all.
This is what happens in a country where history itself is a product of collaborative fiction!
Most of the MBA degree holders are below average students. They get great jobs in multinationals and local companies because they have connections.
@Ali Tanoli - Yes it is sad, if the most educated city is in this situation, you can just imagine how Jahil then rest of the Pakistan is ....and after reading your comments I can understand how the situation is Pakistan.
Can you for change come out of this inferiority complex and hatred towards Karachi? There are bigger problems to fix but you cannot seem to get out of your complex..
I would like to suggest in Pakistan they should keep international GRE and GMAT criteria for admission higher levels. The government should subsidies the test fee as well.
Most of the candidates were KUBS grads, their own prepared ones weren't able to get through.
There should be alternative view regarding this outcome as well. To be very fair with the candidates, the entry test should be constructed keeping Pakistani education standards in mind rather than of any elite international institute which these so called top Pakistani universities love to copy. Before making any hard entry test, why don't these elite Pakistani unis tell us that how many quality research scholars they have produced all these years. Are they themselves so top ranked that they can defend their selecting criteria ? Last time I checked the list had no Pakistani university in top 500. In short, these universities first needs to justify themselves as being quality education provider before drawing any rigid selecting threshold for the new comers.
Give the same test to academic staff or faculty and see how many of them pass that test.
What is the management up to, now? Won't there be any PhD, MPhil batch in this session?

This is not about the preparation or assessment of that test alone. This has more to do with the dismal state and poor quality of education at the primary, secondary and higher secondary levels!
Instead of lowering the standard of the test, keep the bar high and make this a highly selective program so that people strive to get enrolled.
It is failure of our education system. There is dire need to revise curricula from primary level to bachelors. For example, Mathematics should be compulsory until F.Sc. & F.A. and inclusion of other important subjects, and more specialized bachelor degrees.
And karachi wants jobs on merit hahahah

There isn't something right with the test if all those who applied failed. It is indeed a failure of Mphil/PhD admission committee.
Good. Merit should be upheld at all cost.
