Work Hazards: Two workers die due to gas leakage

GUJRANWALA: Two workers died and another was hospitalised on Friday after inhaling gas at a factory in Satellite Town, police said. They said Mudassir, 25, Hasnain, 18, and Yasin were asleep after working the night shift at an embroidery factory. Mudassir and Hasnain died and Yasin fell unconscious after inhaling gas due to a leak. Yasir was hospitalised. Mudassar’s father said that the workers had informed the factory owner about the gas leakage several days ago but he had failed to take any action. The bereaved families protested against the factory owner who was later taken into custody by the police. TV reports said that the protesters also clashed with policemen at the hospital where the bodies had been sent for autopsy. One of the policemen was beaten by relatives of the deceased and had his uniform torn.
