2 women killed as van falls into River Kabul in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Two women were killed when a passenger van fell into River Kabul in the Shabqadar area of Peshawar on Friday, Express News reported.

At least seven other people, reportedly residents of Mohmand Agency, were injured in the incident, which took place on the Haji Zai Pul.

Rescue teams are providing medical assistance to the injured at the spot of the accident.

So far 15 people have been taken out of the van, which was on its way from Peshawar to Mohmand Agency via Shahqadar Road, while one is still stuck in the van.

The cause of the incident is reportedly overloading. Cranes are being used in order to pull the van out of the river.

The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

Police have reached the site and a rescue operation is underway.
