BANNU: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) provided cooked food to about 2,300 internally displaced persons (IDP) from North Waziristan Agency who have arrived in Bannu. The organisation also distributed 22,000 litres of drinking water to the displaced families to alleviate their suffering. According to a handout issued by PRCS on Monday, IDPs stranded at various points were provided essential items which included cooked rice and drinking water. The distribution was carried out in Amandi union council and close to Bannu airport. The press release also states that a free medical camp was set up in Bannu to provide relief to IDPs. So far, 580 patients have been given basic treatment while 10 patients with serious illnesses were transported in PRCS ambulances to District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu. PRCS with its partner, the International Committee of the Red Cross, has drawn a comprehensive plan to respond efficiently to mitigate the suffering of those who have left their homes in the wake of the military operation.
