CJCSC meets top US military leaders

Post-2014 Afghanistan situation and ramification upon region come under discussion, says ISPR press release

RAWALPINDI: General Rashad Mahmood, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), who is on an official visit to the US, held extensive talks with both the military and civilian leadership of the US, ISPR reported.

During these talks, the dignitaries discussed matters relating to regional security and defence cooperation between the two armed forces while vowing to further enhance both areas.

Armed forces dignitaries with whom CJCSC met included, General Martin Dempsey, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff of USA, General Lloyd J. Austin, Commander US Central Command, Admiral Jonathan Greenert, Chief of Naval Operations USA,General Ray Odierno, Chief of Staff USA Army, Admiral William McRaven, Commander US Special Operations Command.

During the visit CJCSC also met different officials of US administration which included Senator Bob Menendez, Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Ambassador James F. Dobbins, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan and Ms Rose E.Gottemoeller, Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security.

During the talks, CJCSC highlighted the security perspective of Pakistan and the contributions made by its people and armed forces in fighting the menace of terrorism. The post-2014 Afghanistan situation and ramification upon the region also came under discussion, the press release added.
