At least seven people were killed, including two policemen and an ambulance driver, in separate incidents of violence on Saturday while another police officer and a political worker were injured.
A 52-year-old head constable, Yousuf Haroon, was shot dead near the Garden traffic police signal on MA Jinnah Road. The investigation officer, ASI Saeed, said that the deceased was posted at the Police Headquarters, Garden, and was on his way home when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle shot at and killed him.
Another policeman was killed in Orangi Town. SP Sajid Sadozai said that head constable Qasim Shah was attacked near the Banaras flyover by armed men on a motorcycle when he was on his way home. He said that the victim was associated with the South zone police and was a resident of Orangi Town.
A driver of the Jafaria Disaster Management Cell, 25-year-old Raheel Khan, was shot dead near his house in Azam Nagar, when he had arrived home for lunch. Another man, identified as 55-year-old Fazal Abbas Zaidi, was shot dead when armed motorcyclists opened fire at him as he was sitting at his store at Jahangirabad.
A dumper truck driver, 30-year-old Sher Ghulam, was shot dead when unidentified armed men opened fire on his truck on Super Highway. A faith healer, 60-year-old Owais Zaheer, was shot dead when armed men opened fire at him at his aastana in Korangi. A 40-year-old Pakistan Coast Guard (PCG) driver, Habib Alam, was killed in Korangi No. 6. Another PCG personnel, 30-year-old Azizullah, was injured in the attack.
Separately, a police officer, ASI Irshad, was shot at and injured in Quaidabad, while a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Maqsood Moin, was shot at and injured in Liaquatabad.
