Mohsin Khan, a 21-year-old aspiring boxer, is all set to compete at the Ghulam Mohammad Nawaz National Boxing Ranking Championship in Islamabad on June 17, where he will be among the country’s top 40 pugilists competing for the title.
Mohsin, who belongs to Quetta, hopes to represent Pakistan in international events and more importantly, wants to be selected among the six boxers for a national training camp in Kazakhstan this year.
“It’s all about hard work, I know I’ve given my all,” Mohsin told The Express Tribune. “It’s going to be a tough contest where all the boxing talent from the country is competing. It’s about making a mark. I know this is my only chance to do so.”
PBF to introduce official rankings
Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) Secretary Akram Khan held a press conference at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Coaching Centre in Karachi to announce that the National Ranking Championship will help the PBF to release the official rankings for the teams in the competition for the first time.
“We’re grateful to the PSB, Inter-Province Coordination ministry and the government for supporting us,” said Akram. “The PBF has continued working and has held the junior, senior championship throughout two years, while the national camp also continued despite uncertainty at times.”
