PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested former Mardan DPO Waqif Khan from the city on Wednesday for having assets that do not reflect his declared source of income.

Waqif served in the police force from 1971 to 2011. His immovable assets include a plaza in Sethi Town, Rs30 million worth of investments, several residential houses in Saddar, Hayatabad and Sethi Town as well as lucrative plots in Islamabad, Police Colony, Hayatabad, University Town and Sirbiland Pura.

“This man has assets worth millions of rupees and was arrested from Peshawar on Wednesday night,” said a NAB official while talking to The Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani has ordered strict disciplinary action against suspended Battagram DSP Shaukat Zaman as an initial enquiry revealed he registered four FIRs against residents in bogus drug trafficking cases.

Zaman had already been suspended after he was accused of being involved in various rackets. Judge Tariq Yousafzai had handed him to NAB on a 12-day physical remand.
