Just ten days after joining the provincial government, MQM is observing a day of mourning today, after bodies of four party workers were found in Memon Goth on the night of April 30.
Addressing the provincial assembly, MPA Rauf Siddiqui alleged that the four workers were tortured for 15 days.
“Four mothers have lost their sons today,” said Siddiqui, asking for justice and an end to extra-judicial killings.
MQM MPA Khawaja Izharul Hassan stated that the party has been constantly speaking out against the murders of its workers but "we have not got justice from the courts."
Hassan questioned if the party had made a mistake by supporting the law enforcement agencies in the Karachi operation and were being punished for it.
Party representative Faisal Sabzwari also expressed concern over the killings of MQM workers.
Govt support
Sindh local government and information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, in response to these allegations against security agencies, asked party workers to submit any evidence they have in the court so an inquiry can be based on it.
Memon added that the government is responsible for finding the people responsible for the killings but the party should help them by nominating suspects.
He also suggested that the party file an FIR to help with the investigations.

workers who have been accused of crimes should be arrested and strict action should be taken against them
Mr Izharul Hassan,
I beg you to please pass a resolution on people killed everyday. But i know you will not as they were not MQM workers. They were just ordinary citizens.
@FP - make that 177
Dear MQM, More than 170 innocent citizens were killed in April 2014 but no resolution were presented in Sindh Assembly in this regard.
