RAWALPINDI: A scuffle between two brothers in New Town resulted in the murder of the mediator, the police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at the house of the mediator, who was not named by the police. The man’s son-in-law, Aqib, had a brawl with his own younger brother, Afzal, over a family dispute. The brothers had developed differences which eventually saw Aqib leave his family house and move in with his in-laws.

On Wednesday, Afzal went to the victim’s house in Pindora to convince his brother to come home, but instead the meeting turned into a brawl. During the fight, Afzal pulled out a pistol and opened fire at Aqib, but hit his father-in-law instead. The father-in-law died on the spot.

The police have registered a murder case against the suspect on the complaint of Rizwan, a son of the deceased. Meanwhile, Rao Nauman lodged a report with the same police that auto-thieves stole his motorcycle (BL-016) from outside his house on Sixth Road.
