Police officer, political worker killed in Karachi

Worker of MQM identified as Faisal Rehman aka Kallan, son of Abdul Rehman was shot dead on Friday.

KARACHI: A police officer and a worker of a political party were gunned down in two separate incidents of target killings on Friday night.

Sub-inspector Javed Malik, in-charge of the Al-Asif Square police post of Sohrab Goth police station, was shot dead on Super Highway.

Police officials said that the deceased was on his way to the police post on his motorcycle when at least two armed men riding pillion on a motorcycle shot at him multiple times.

He died on the spot. His body was later taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Earlier, a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) identified as Faisal Rehman aka Kallan, son of Abdul Rehman was shot dead within the limits of Sharae Faisal police station.

Police officials said that deceased was playing carom at a game shop near his home when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle shot and killed him.

His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy.
