After offering their Friday prayers, scores of people protested against the district government and Wapda officials over prolonged power outages.

Maulana Abdul Jalil, who was leading the protest, stood in front of Khateeb Adda mosque after prayers and started chanting slogans against the government. Jalil said for the last two months residents were suffering from long and announced power outages, adding, “All our businesses are at a halt due to 20 hours of load-shedding on a daily basis.”

He also lashed out at the provincial government saying it was impossible to spot their MPAs in the area since the election, as they rarely visit their constituencies and remain confined to the MPA hostel in Peshawar.

The protesters said if the government and Wapda fail to solve their problems within three days, they would launch a massive protest and the government would be responsible for any dire consequences.
