MIRANSHAH: A bomb planted by unidentified militants detonated along a roadside, while another was defused by the bomb disposal unit (BDU) in Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan Agency on Sunday. No loss was reported.

An official of the security forces said the first incident occurred in the morning. A security forces convoy was on its way to Datta Khel from Miranshah. When it passed through the bazaar, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted there went off.

Another contingent of the security forces was sent to the area and a search operation was launched. The official added the IED was attached to a remote control.

In another incident, security force officials were routine patrolling near Kalinger check post when one of the officials spotted a roadside IED and called for the BDU who defused the bomb.

Political administration officials have imposed a curfew in parts of the agency and tribesmen were informed not to come out on the main routes of the agency due to the movement of security force convoys.
