Former local government representative and activist of Tehreek Suba Hazara (TSH) Sardar Gulfraz has threatened to set himself on fire if the government fails to create Hazara province before April 12, the death anniversary of those killed over protests for the Hazara movement in 2010.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Gulfraz claimed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) played with the sentiments of the people of Hazara when they said they have introduced the Hazara resolution. “PTI just wanted votes and got them in the name of a Hazara province, but it proved to be a complete farce as the document was flawed and did not fulfil constitutional requirements,” he said, adding if they were not in a position to garner support of a two-third majority in the K-P assembly, they should not have brought this up.
He maintained forwarding another resolution to demand renaming K-P, to include Hazara, has exposed the true face of the ruling party. “It was mere face saving by the party, especially of the MPAs belonging to Hazara, and was aimed at diverting the attention of the people from the fourth anniversary of Hazara martyrs.”
He said if the government fails to carve out a Hazara province, he will set himself on fire on April 12.
Meanwhile, PTI MPA Sardar Idrees and mover of Hazara province resolution brushed aside the accusation of the legislation’s flaws and said it was complete and enjoyed the required majority. Speaking to The Express Tribune, the MPA from Abbottabad said at the time of a vote count, there were 120 members present and only four opposed while the rest supported the resolution.
He added his party had honoured its promise and it is now the turn of the centre to get it approved in the National Assembly and Senate.

When over 65% of the region is not of Hindko ethnicity what is the purpose of this so called ethno-linguistic province? Its a small area which is mostly hilly and mountainous plus sparsely populated. Are they going to have a separate cabinet and police for this wondrous new place? If this happens and the mohajirs of Karachi make a fuss about not having a province of their own then I say why not abolish Pakistan altogether. The places west of the Indus have little in common with the rest of Pakistan anyway. Iran has already had a long standing policy on a greater Iran and the Pashtuns and Baluchis can finally be free from the manipulative Pakistani state and reunite with thier brethren in Afghanistan and Sistan respectively. The real question is whether the petulant children Punjab and Sindh will come back to mother India quietly or still misbehave?
Fully support Hazara province. All the best to Hazaras hope they will achieve it peacefully.
@ali: They deserve a new province back in India not in Pakistan.
only people who deserve a new province are the urdu speaking
Let me tell you that only 36 members were present in the Assembly when the resolution to create Hazara province presented and at that moment the Chief minister himself and many other members of the treasury benches also quieted from the house just to avoid to put their vote either in favor or against the resolution. It is also important to mention here that the second resolution renaming the province was a joint venture of PTI and Jammat e Islami moved by Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, even Senior minister Siraj ul Haq also tried to present the same resolution but as he did,t follow the prescribed way that,s why he was not allowed to present the resolution from Speaker.
please don't hurt yourself don't do that, Hazara province will come on the map soon. There are different requirement to fullfill before creating a province and it definitely will not happen till 12th April the deadline you are giving which is hardly couple of weeks from now. Just see in India how much months i took how much struggle Telugu did in creating Telangana state from Andhra pradesh so it's not a matter of one week or one month.
Instead of Provincialism we should move towards one unit, And equal treatment of all Pakistani in every Part of Pakistan, if there is some thing Good, All should enjoy the same, And God Forbid Bad, All should suffer the same equally.
Bottomline is that the resolution has been passed and now NA must follow up. Sooba Hazara Tehreek is now just a case of sour grapes.
