Only 20% of the population has access to oral healthcare.

Press Release March 21, 2014

KARACHI: The World Oral Health Day was celebrated across the globe on March 20 under the auspices of the World Dental Federation, with the theme of ‘Celebrating Healthy Smiles’. With more than 90% of oral diseases untreated, Pakistan has a long way to go. Almost every Pakistani will suffer from an oral disease at least once in his lifetime, ranging from gum disease to oral cancer. Only 20% of the population has access to oral healthcare, while only 50% of school children have dental care. Oral cancer is the second most common form of cancer in the country. Shield Corporation Limited joined the World Dental Federation in celebrating the World Oral Health Day, setting up free dental camps across the country to spread awareness.
