RAWALPINDI:

The Rawat police have been accused of using delaying tactics in registration of an FIR in a stabbing case that occurred last week despite arresting the suspects from the crime scene.

Raja Amir Rafique told The Express Tribune that he was stabbed and injured by a man after grabbing his land last Sunday. The ‘land grabber’ also shot injured his friend Waseem Ahmad at his office.

Rafique, who spent four days in hospital due to severe injuries, alleged that the police were hand in glove with the land grabbers.

He also accused the police of changing his statement. “The statement is completely different from what I had recorded with fake and different signatures,” he alleged.

He said the suspect is roaming freely despite the fact that the police have arrested him on the spot and recovered the dagger from his possession.

Ahmad, while confirming the claim, alleged that SHO Malik Asif is using delaying tactics in registering the FIR and pressurising them to reach a settlement.

He said the suspect is also threatening them with dire consequences if they refuse to reach a settlement. He said the doctors have handed over the medical report to the SHO but he was not accepting it.

However, when contacted, the SHO said the FIR would be registered when he received the medical report of both the victims. “I cannot register an FIR until I receive medical report, even though the victim has been discharged.”
