Pollution: ‘Burning of hazardous waste be stopped’

DCO Azmat Mehmood directs crackdown be launched against burning of dangerous materials at kilns in Gujranwala.

GUJRANWALA:

District Coordination Officer Azmat Mehmood on Tuesday directed that a crackdown be launched against burning of dangerous materials at kilns in Gujranwala.

The DCO constituted a 25-member team led by Assistant Commissioner Ateequr Rehman to stop burning of tyres, plastic and rubber at kilns. He said action would be taken against those found responsible without discrimination.

Mehmood said residents were suffering from diseases caused by environmental pollution.
