US to provide $125million for dam construction

Federal Minister for Water and Power says US to help Pakistan overcome power crisis.

The United States will provide Pakistan $125million for the construction of two dams and repairing four existing projects, stated Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday.

The federal minister made the statement while speaking to the media at Islamabad Airport. Speaking about the strategic dialogue between Pakistan and the US, he said that the US assured Pakistan of their cooperation to help control the power crisis.

He said that the Thar coal and other power projects were also discussed during the meeting, along with flood destruction and the construction of Diamer Bhasha dam. Ashraf said the US will also provide investment for the generation of 150 megawatts of electricity through windmill projects.
