Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi urged law officers to avoid unnecessary adjournments in criminal cases as they cause the masses to lose their trust in the judiciary.

He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a one-week refresher course on the role of law officers in quick disposal of criminal cases at the Federal Judicial Academy here on Monday, said a press release.

Twenty-two law officers from across Pakistan including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are attending the course.

“Law officers and prosecutors play a crucial role in the administration of the criminal justice system, hence, it is essential to arrange professional trainings and refresher courses to improve and enhance their efficiency and performance”.

While advising the participants, he said, “Carry out your duties and functions impartially and avoid all political, social, religious, racial, cultural, or any other kind of discrimination. Protect the public interest and act with objectivity.”
