Dr Sardar Sooran Singh said that the initiative would provide relief to the deserving women of the minority community. He made these comments while addressing a cheque distribution ceremony at Kala Bari Hindu temple.
Dr Sardar Sooran Singh said that the government was fully cognizant of the problems faced by the minorities and was taking results-oriented measures to address those problems.
He said that government was mulling over initiating several welfare projects for the minorities that would redress their grievances. PTI would live up to its slogan of change and would make serious efforts to end corruption and nepotism in the province, he added.
He also said that a check and balance system and the Right to Information Act have been introduced in the province to provide people access to the concerned departments and Ministers.

@Raj - USA: You do know that Muslims don't fair any better in India. They're more poor than the Hindu Dalits (untouchables). Compare to them, Hindus have fared much better in Pakistan.
@Raj - USA:
I am always flattered that you troll Pakistani news sites, and also understand that you feel superior to other "Rajs" out there, so you need to clarify that you are located in US and not an ordinary Raj from India.
Imran Khan did give a statement condemning the act. I do agree with your first sentence that it is a start, and lets not get too excited. Lets see if this initiative materialises into something concrete and good for minorities in the province his party is ruling.
How many hindus are receiving assistance from BenazIr Income Support Scheme. Not even one, I would think unless I see some report.
How many hindus have received a free lap-top computer from Punjab Government? Not even one, I would think.
How many hindus have been approved to receive any funds from the government's loan scheme? Again, not even one, I would think.
Yet we all know that the hindu community is the poorest of all and also the most persecuted of all communities in Pakistan.
Very encouraging for Christians in Pakistan !
A great initiative!
