LAHORE:

Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Navi of the Lahore High Court on Monday directed the Federal Investigation Agency to submit a report about the steps taken for the arrest of Asim Malik, chief executive of an immigration consultancy firm Future Concern.

Malik is accused of depriving his clients of billions of rupees by promising to send them abroad. FIA Director Dr Usman told the court that Asim’s arrest warrants had been issued and embassies in 15 countries had been contacted for his arrest. He said the government had announced a reward of Rs5 million for anyone who could provide information about him. More than 125 petitions have been filed against Malik and his wife. The petitioners have claimed that they had given them money to go abroad. The judge earlier had ordered the Federal Investigation Authority to confiscate their assets and add Malik’s name to the exit control list. The Sialkot DCO had also informed the court that Malik had fraudulently transferred 380 kanal land in his name. He said the transfer had been cancelled.
