MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar said on Saturday that development schemes costing Rs5,111 million would be initiated under the South Punjab Development Programme 2013-14.


Dogar said the government was focusing on the development of south Punjab. He said work would be started soon.

He said a 9-kilometre road from the general bus stand to the motorway was being constructed. He said construction of a safari park, a zoo, renovation of Shah Shams park and construction of a road along both sides of the Shujabad Canal were also in the works.

He said an expressway project from Shujabad to Naag Shah Chowk had been approved.

He said IT Labs were being established at 59 schools across the district with a budget of Rs 81.143 million.

Protest

Scores of people on Saturday staged a demonstration against a youngster’s murder at Chungi 6 on Saturday.

The protesters blocked Bosan Road by erecting barriers  They also burnt tyres. They were carrying banners and chanted slogans.They demanded that the police arrest the killers as early as possible.

Hamdan was shot dead by three unknown persons near Jalal Chowk Gulgasht colony last week.
