HANGU:

Three people were allegedly kidnapped from Balyamina, Hangu by unidentified armed men in the late hours of Friday.

According to police official Gulzar Khan, three members of a family identified as Malid, Jasim and Rauf were heading home after offering Isha prayers at the village mosque when the unidentified men kidnapped them at gunpoint.

Khan added after the incident, police blocked all entry and exit routes, and launched a search operation in the surrounding areas, however, the kidnappers could not be found.

The kidnapped men belong to a wealthy family, explained the police official. “Mostly the people who go missing from this area are kidnapped for ransom by militants,” he said.

The police speculates the kidnapped men may have been shifted to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

A case has been filed and investigation is under way, Khan added.

This is the second incident of kidnapping in Balyamina within this month. On February 3, six people from Balyamina were kidnapped by unidentified militants while they were en route to Hangu Bazaar.

The men are reportedly currency dealers and were on their way to a shop in Haideri market when they were abducted. Their whereabouts still remain unknown.
