Youth Festival: Nankana Sahib take tennis-ball cricket cup

The Nankana Sahib cricket team on Thursday won the inter-district tennis-ball cricket tournament of the Punjab Youth Festival at Iqbal Park Sports Complex.


The team played against Sheikhupura district in the title clash.

Nankana’s skipper Jameel hit 27 runs off 10 balls. Pacer Shahbaz captured four wickets in one over and was declared man of the match.

Lahore Division Sports Officer Malik Waqar Ahmed; Kasur District Sports Officer Akbar Murad and Nankana Sahib District Sports Officer Maqbool Ahmed were also present.

As many as 11,130 people competed on the fifth day of the division-level games and 1,139 moved to the next round.

Faisalabad division saw the highest participation of the day with 4,670 players of which 118 moved to the next round.

As many as 3,953 athletes from Lahore featured in several PYF events and 244 moved to the next round.

As many as 685 athletes competed in Sahiwal and 264 were victorious. In Rawalpindi, out of 361 players, 87 moved to the next round.

As many as 126 athletes competed in Sargodha and 46 moved to the next round. In Gujranwala, 142 of 480 contestants moved to the next round.

As many as 157 people competed from Multan and 48 moved to the next round.

In Bahawalpur, 49 athletes out of 177 participants moved to the next round. As many as 141 in DG Khan division while overall, 521 athletes appeared in various PYF events.

A full dress rehearsal for make the human flag will be held at the National Hockey Stadium on February 14. Sports Board Director General Usman Anwar said students would beat Bangladesh which had set the record with the participation of 27,117 people in the human flag.
