Missing persons: 21-year-old in ISI custody, SC told

Mahmood was allegedly picked up by law enforcement agencies on June 26, 2013 in front of several people.

In spite of the denial by the country’s top spy agency, Punjab police on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that Khawar Mahmood, a 21 year old missing person, was under the custody of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

Punjab Acting Advocate General Mustafa Ramday, appearing before the apex court’s three-judge bench, headed by Justice Jawwad Khawaja – submitted the police’s report regarding Khawar’s enforced disappearance.

Khawar Mahmood was working in Chinese company Tiens in Fort Abbas and was allegedly picked up by law enforcement agencies on June 26, 2013 in front of several people.

According to the report, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) on February 8 approached the ministries of interior and defence to take up the matter with the higher ups of the Military Intelligence (MI) and ISI to find the whereabouts of the missing person.
