He was addressing MQM supporters and the media Sunday evening.
The MQM chief said that the party workers are being extra-judicially killed. He requested the Army chief and DG ISI to take notice of the situation.
He further said the MQM and the Urdu speaking people are patriotic but they have been subjected to negative propaganda.
Altaf held Sindh police chief responsible for the alleged killings and atrocities.
Earlier, MQM member Fahad Aziz, 30, who was arrested on Saturday night, was released on bail. Police said Aziz was allegedly involved in target killing, extortion and other crimes in the city.
MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi had claimed on Saturday that since last year, 45 of our workers have gone missing, 40 of them since the current operation started. Ten activists have been victims to extrajudicial killings.

@Rex Minor It's not exaggerated, every international monitoring body confirms it every year. Pakistani politicians are one of the most corrupt in the world, not to mention the most incompetent.
@Mohammad Ali Siidiqui: You too have joined the chorus of Pakistan pessimists. Give us hope. Give us suggestions for workable solutions. Do not despair.
Who should take notice of MQM atrocities?
Wondering why the champion of democracy and head of a metro political party calling up COAS !!!
@Ahmad:
It would be unusual for a State to function without corruption; more so in democracies than in countries with authoritative Governments. Alone in the European Union it is estimated with Euros 120 Billion. The European commission has warned the Governments to reform and cease the avenues which lead to corruption. In my opinion the people of Pakistan exaggerate about the corruption per say and regard it as an anomaly. Transparency in democracies is the antidote and this must be encouraged, Sir..
Rex Minor..
After seeing all what is happening in Pakistan, can any one confidently say what is the future of Pakistan?
Right from Gen. Musharraf, Asif Zardari and now Nawaz Sharif things are going from bad to worst and still our political leadership thinks that every thing is going well in Pakistan.
On one hand Government is negotiating with TTP who are spread all over Pakistan for peace but on the other hand Government cannot bring peace in Karachi?
I am amazed at the comments that have been posted here. people are being extra-judicially killed, and you guys are having fun? Well, don't worry just wait and see MQM will be back and when it does It will become the most popular party. You are probably thinking that MQM is finished, well, I would say STOP day dreaming and see MQM is coming to every corner around the country more powerful and representing poor people of PAKISTAN. MQM developed Karachi and it will develop the country..!
what were they doing when they were in govt for 10 years... just all drama
not too sure if it is the right thing to ask for, but surely it points our how badly our institutions esp police and judiciary have failed!
@Rex Minor: Did you even review what you wrote?? There is no "elected local leadership" in Karachi. The Government has consistently insured derailment of local body elections to prevent empowering "elected local leadership." And, even if there will be "elected local leadership," Police force will still be under the Sindh Provincial Government. Which is why "this man from the UK is asking for military leadership to intervene."
And, further, this is why Indian Government refuses to meet or negotiate with the civilian leadership of Pakistan. Because they know where the power lies.
Army Chief should take notice as Bhai Sahib wants. It is the duty of the army to keep peace in the business hub and the only way it to de-weaponize the whole city. There should be complete blockade and all men made to be present in their homes and clean the city once and for all. It is fair and nobody should have any objection.
The Army Chief always takes notice of important things. If this is important, I am sure has already taken notice of it, rest assured.
@Rex Minor: You are very right. This UK man should and must mind his own bussiness. He must clean his own house by telling the public from where he got that $600,000 which was found in one of his three houses and amount was confiscated by Scotland Yard. To me this guy is corrupt and thief unless proven otherwise. Period.
@Rex Minor
Have you met our political leadership? their only interest in corruption and setting their kids up for more corruption.
Mr Asif Zardari was not responding to his phone calls as probably he was busy in Sind Festival Basant day and flying kites with Super sain
I am sure Army has got better things to do however if you have got any valid concerns,raise them with your previous and current honeymoon partners.
One would think that the political leadership in Pakistan would want to rid itself of the army rule and bring Police force directly under the control of the elected local leadership, this man from the UK is asking for military leadership to intervene.
Rex Minor
But.....but... we have a democracy, shouldn't he ask the mighty PM?
