Four policemen gunned down in Karachi

Unidentified assailants on motorbikes fired at the police vehicle, fatally wounding the officials.

KARACHI: In yet another attack on security officials in Karachi, four police officers were killed when unidentified men attacked their vehicle in Ibrahim Hyderi on Monday, Express News reported. 

Armed men, riding on motorcycles, fired on the vehicle from the right side, fatally wounding the officials. The assailants were able to escape after the attack.

The injured officials were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

AIG Police Shahid Hayat later visited the hospital and met with relatives of the deceased.

Law enforcing agencies in Karachi have come under attack recently. On January 29, two consecutive cracker attacks on a check post killed a Rangers official and left six others injured.

A suicide blast targeting Rangers Headquarters in Nazimabad area left three dead and injured five others just a few hours after the first two attacks.

On January 25, at least six police officials were killed in two attacks on their vans in Landhi No6 area of Karachi.

unidentified armed men first fired at the police van before lobbing a grenade at it. The blast destroyed the van and killed three police officials.

A second police van parked near the Landhi Hospital square was attacked with guns, in which three officials were shot dead.
