‘Misleading’ diagnosis: Court adjourns treason case
The prosecution submits written objections over Musharraf’s medical report.
ISLAMABAD:
A three-judge special court adjourned its hearing on Wednesday in the high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf on the request of his legal team. The court, led by Justice Faisal, was informed that Musharraf’s legal team was tackling a case in the apex court. A 14-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Tassadaq Hussain Jillani is hearing a review petition filed by Musharraf against its July 31, 2009 judgment declaring the imposition of Emergency rule illegal and unconstitutional. The special court also issued a notice to Anwar Mansoor, a senior lawyer of the defence team, on the prosecution’s application regarding cross-examination of Major General Imran Majeed who heads the AFIC’s medical board. The prosecution submitted written objections over Musharraf’s medical report, issued by the AFIC, claiming it is ‘misleading’.
