Badhaber police on Saturday arrested two Afghan nationals from a house in Surizai, on the outskirts of the city, and recovered electronics and chemicals used in the manufacturing of explosive devices from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Mumtaz and Muhammad Sharif, who were residing in a rented house. Around 200 grammes of sulphur, seven batteries, eight remote receivers, three Afghan SIMs and one mobile phone was recovered from them. Police said these people were either directly involved in sabotage activities or were helping other people in carrying out bomb blasts.
“This is an important breakthrough for us,” an official of the local police station told The Express Tribune, adding the two accused were being interrogated and had provided important clues to the police.
Similarly, around 19 people were arrested on suspicion during a search operation in the jurisdiction of Badhaber police station on Saturday.
The operation was conducted in Badhaber, Masho Gagar and Balarzai. Police said the suspects will be interrogated and released once cleared by the investigation team.
