Contempt of court: Notice issued to Film Censor Board
Counsel for the petitioner said an LHC bench had granted a stay order against exhibition of Indian movies in Pakistan.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Film Censor Board, the commerce secretary and Independent Film Motion, a private exhibition company, on a contempt of court petition over the exhibition of Dedh Ishqiya, an Indian film, in Pakistan. Justice Ijaz Ahmed of the LHC sought replies from the respondents in two weeks. Counsel for the petitioner said an LHC bench had granted a stay order against the exhibition of Indian movies in Pakistan. He said the Film Censor Board had granted permission for the exhibition of Dedh Ishqiya in violation of court orders on January 9. He said the board had acted in contempt of court orders and requested the court to try the officials responsible for contempt.
