QUETTA: Having been charged with torturing five policemen and snatching their weapons, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) MPA Sardar Abdul Rehman Kethran was shifted to Quetta on Wednesday, where his house has been declared as a sub-jail owing to security concerns.

Police, Anti- Terrorism Force had raided Kethran’s house in Barkhan a few days ago and discovered a private prison where at least eight people had been held captive.

The captives were freed and Khetran was charged with kidnapping and torturing five police personnel.

District Police Officer Barkhan Abdul Ghafoor Marri said that Kethran was being charged for three crimes - having a private prison, illegally detaining people and possessing illegal weapons.

Fearing for his security, the Balochistan Assembly had issued an order to provide appropriate security to Kethran.

“We are following the Balochistan Assembly orders,” Home Secretary Asad Gillani said after police deputed heavy security detail around his house.

“The house of Sardar Kethran in Quetta has been declared sub-jail. Personnel of police and ATF have been deputed for the security,” a police official said.

Talking to reporters at Balochistan Assembly, Kethran claimed that he was being politically victimised.
