LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge sought comments from the Gujjarpura SHO on a petition filed by a woman seeking to register a case against her husband for allegedly forcing her to get an abortion. She claimed he had dreamt that the baby would be female.

Kashaf Noor said she had married Ashfaq two years ago and they had a daughter. When she resisted getting an abortion on her second pregnancy, her husband beat her up and she had to be taken to a hospital for an abortion.

Noor said when she went to the police, the SHO refused to register an FIR. She asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against her husband for committing a criminal act.
