Supplying narcotics: Police official suspended

The prisoner revealed he obtained the hashish from the hospital’s laboratory technician, Wajid.

Jail authorities suspended an official from the hospital department of the Central Prison for allegedly supplying narcotics to prisoners.


Haripur Central Prison DSP Akhtar Shah told journalists on Wednesday that 200 grammes of hashish was recovered from an inmate, Fayaz, who was already serving a life sentence on charges related to narcotics. The contraband was seized during a search of the prison.


Upon interrogation, the prisoner revealed he obtained the hashish from the hospital’s laboratory technician, Wajid. The jail superintendent then ordered to suspend the technician, besides launching a departmental probe against him. Meanwhile, the prisoner was sent to the punishment cell.

The prisoner should have been be provided a rehabilitation course.
