In a statement released by his party on Monday, Altaf told members of the Rabita Committee and other party leaders that if cases under Article six are to be initiated against the former president, then instead of just hearing on November 3, 2007, emergency, the trial should also include circumstances surrounding the October 12, 1999 coup.
The MQM chief said that those who hold Musharraf responsible for the emergency, and want to him to be hanged, are unfair and unjust in their demands. He said that the cases against Musharraf are a conspiracy to divert attention from the real issues and problems faced by the country.
Regarding Sunday's congregation in Karachi, Altaf said that 'Sindh two' is a reality, and would come into shape.
He reiterated that the deprived people should be given their rights.
On Friday, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said the government should also pursue a case against Musharraf for staging a military coup in 1999. “To try Musharraf only for abrogating the Constitution on November 3, 2007, is not enough,” Shah said. “This will ultimately allow the former military chief a safe exit.”

Mr Altaf should talk about himself. He must tell us how he got 400000 British pound which were found in one of his three houses in London and money was confiscated by Scotland Yard.
If musharaf should be tried for coup, then Altaf should be tried for rigging, and should lose all the areas which he won in.
This man is in a fix with Scotland yard who are going to nab him very soon and for the time being is making silly statements which are helping PPP to delay the local body elections. Media should stop giving him time and instead highlight the real issues faced by ordinary people.

Actually he is protecting him. If he would be tried for coup then we will hear calls for trial of Zia and Ayub's coup as well. Ultimately everything will be cooled down and nothing will happen.
I am not a musharraf supporter, but musharraf is a loyal soldier & son of this country while Altaf Hussain's loyalty is doubtful and not clear due to his frequent anti-pakistan statements and his oath to UK on which he got british citizenship. You do not throw rocks when your house is made of glass.
If this continues, I as a Pakistani citizen will get involved in the politics of UK from now on

A prosecutor can't be forced to take a weaker case and select carefully the cases that are winnable. Why this prosecutor should go into the field knowingly that he will loose!

Altaf Hussain you should be ashamed for even thinking that, you yourself are such a coward hiding behind a telephone of yours in a foreign country armed with a foreign passport. Im not a musharraf supporter but atleast he had the guts to come back to this country despite security risk like you and he did not yet leave the country for treatment. Also, we had 10000 times better lives under his COUP rather than your DEMOCRACY (read militancy). Strong Reality check.
Altaf Bhai is using Musharaf's misery for his own glory but would never let Musharaf to become part of MQM. Altaf Bhai knows very well that Musharaf will replace him in a very short time.
Its a test of the Judicial system and democracy
A rich foreign citizen in the safety of UK is interfering in our judicial system and sovereignty of the country. When would Sindh get a refuge from these rich lifetime political chiefs? This party is created by Zia’s establishment and is continuously supported by the same establishment. Who could continue to address on phone in various Pakistani cities for quarter of a century without the establishment support? If it were any other party their connections would have long been cut off. Poor masses do not get electricity but there is no shortage of electricity and satellite for establishment party.
