Dottani and Suleman Khel tribes held a jirga with civilian and military officials in Toi Khullah tehsil of Wana, South Waziristan on Sunday.
Government officials and tribal elders agreed to enhance cooperation for maintaining peace in the area, while residents informed officials about their daily civic issues. Tribal elders demanded the government to set up a model school for children and ensure electricity supply to the entire area.
Government officials, in return, asked the tribes to continue to work for peace in their area so all development demands of the tehsil can be met.
Malik Nawab Khan, a tribal leader, said the area’s tribes have never shied away from sacrificing for peace and will continue to cooperate with the government. “We want development and education for our children.”
Meanwhile, government officials also inspected a under-construction 50-bed hospital. The hospital is being built at a cost of Rs148.94 million with support from UAE.
