KARACHI: Karachi Boat Club (KBC) stole the limelight on the opening day of the 72nd Amateur Rowing Association of the East-Far East Amateur Rowing Association Chinna Creek international regatta that commenced on Friday.

As many as 23 races were held on the first day that saw a day’s delay due to late arrival of several participants.

KBC’s rowers stole the show as they won eight races and ended as runners-up on two occasions. The Lahore Canal Boat Club, second outfit for Pakistan, was less fortunate as its rowers won one and finished second in 12 races.

Colombo Rowing Club was the second best side of the day as it claimed seven races while India’s Madras Boat Club emerged victors in four.
