KBA warns govt against any judicial misadventure

KARACHI: The language used by two federal ministers at a press conference on Friday against the judiciary was a clear indication of a deep-rooted conspiracy against the superior court judges and the judiciary, said the honorary secretary of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) on Saturday.

Addressing an emergency press conference, KBA secretary Barrister Salahuddin Ahmed said the sole target of the two ministers was the judiciary which shows that something serious is brewing.

Any action against the judiciary like the one taken by former president Pervez Musharraf on November 3, 2007, would meet stern resistance by the lawyers, he claimed.

“The lawyers are watchful and are prepared to launch another struggle if the government enters into any misadventure against the judiciary,” Ahmed maintained.

Along with two other senior members of the managing committee, Iqbal Aqeel and Fahim Zia Siddiqui, he denounced what he termed “a foiled bid to withdraw the executive order restoring the dysfunctional judges [who had taken oath under] the Provisional Constitution Order II of 2007.”
