Tribute: Faiz remembered

MULTAN: “Faiz Ahmed Faiz stood for tolerance, love and peace in the society,” educationist Dr Khalid Saeed said on Thursday. He was addressing a literary sitting to mark the 29th death anniversary of poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The sitting was organised by the Multan Union of Journalists at Multan Press Club. “Faiz lives in the hearts of his fans...he will be remembered in times to come,” he said.”Faiz was an asset for Pakistani literature. He was also a great journalist.” Journalist Aslam Javaid said Faiz had created political awareness in the society through his poetry and always supported the downtrodden. Broadcaster Qaisar Naqvi, Rizwan Faisal and Akhtar Jehanian read Faiz’s poetry. Dr Salahuddin Haider, Mansoor Karim Sial and Hassan Raza also spoke on the occasion.
