A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official confirmed that both the players had received injuries during team’s training session in Johannesburg on Monday.
Razzaq is said to suffer from hamstring injury while Malik will miss the tour due to an injured finger.
Malik had suffered the injury during the last Twenty20 match in Dubai on Friday while batting. The injury had forced him to retire hurt in the tenth over when he was on 13, and Pakistan were at 75 for 3. He returned a few overs later and could only add two more runs to his score before being bowled out by Imran Tahir. His injury is said to have been exacerbated by stress due to travel.
“The team management took the decision to send them back after an advice by team’s doctor,” the official told The Express Tribune.
“It is unlikely to send replacements for them since both were in the Twenty20 squad.”
Two Twenty20 matches will be played on November 20 and November 22 and will be followed by a three-match ODI series till November 30.
It may be mentioned that both Malik and Razzaq, who made comebacks for two T20s in UAE, were criticised for their performance after failing to impress on return to national team.
