Education for all: 11 universities sign MoU to provide scholarships

Representatives from 11 universities signed a memorandum of understanding to provide scholarships to students from low income families, at the Lahore University of Management Sciences on Monday.


The MoU is part of the National Outreach Programme (NOP) at LUMS. The NOP offers financial assistance to LUMS students from low income households.

The MoU will focus on cooperation between universities in offering funds to needy students. Representatives from the Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Gomal University, Institute of Management Sciences Peshawar, Karakoram International University, Gilgit; Lasbela University of Agriculture, Namal College, Institute of Business Administration, Sukkur; University of Bahalwapur, University of Haripur and University of Swat signed the MoU. LUMS will also be part of the project.

The project has been initiated by LUMS Vice Chancellor Sohail Naqvi. It will focus on bridging links between the 11 universities to ensure funds for students who want to pursue education but cannot afford it.



The universities will cooperate on reaching out to deserving students from underprivileged households and areas with inadequate opportunities for education.

The MoU will focus on developing and sharing curriculum through collaborative efforts by the universities involved. Under the programme, students will also be provided training for the entrance examinations of the different universities. They will also generate awareness regarding the MoU on their website and through awareness sessions and workshops.
