A committee on low-cost housing met on Monday to facilitate and invigorate low and medium income housing sectors in the country.     




Participants at the meeting discussed in detail prevailing laws, framework for providing legal protection to buyers in the housing sector, changes in low-cost housing by-laws and rules, framework on mortgage laws concerning low-cost housing sector, foreclosure and repossession laws and acquisition of evacuee trust property. The committee will present its report to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.



The committee constituted to formulate policy recommendations under the direction of the prime minister, was chaired by Minister of State for Housing and Works Barrister Usman Ibrahim.

Housing and Works Joint Secretary Umar Rasool, representatives from the Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Finance, State Bank of Pakistan, senior members from provincial housing ministries and the private sector attended the meeting.
