The Kashf Foundation hosted the sixth meeting of the BEES (Business, Enterprise and Employment Support for Women in South Asia) on Monday.


Advisor to the Chief Minister Zakia Shahzawaz inaugurated the event.

She appreciated the BEES Network’s efforts to build linkages among civil society organisations and livelihood programmes for empowering women. She said the economic empowerment of women was the key to success for Pakistan.

The World Bank Change Senior Vice President Isabel Guerrero said she was impressed by the initiatives taken by women’s organisations in South Asia, “there is still much to learn and share and scale up”.

Indian MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda said there were hundreds of solutions to all the problems but the key answer lay in educating girls. Kashf Foundation Managing Director Roshaneh Zafar said that changing mindsets and inculcating an attitude of self sufficiency among women was one of the key approaches they held.
