Saving lives : Commissioner to seize metallic strings

A crackdown against manufacturers and sellers of metallic kite strings has been started.

KARACHI: Commissioner Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui ordered immediate confiscation of all available stock of metallic kite strings on Friday. A crackdown against manufacturers and sellers of this hazardous item has also been started. He expressed his deep sympathy with the parents of the children who lost their lives during the past three months in the city due to the string. The commissioner said stringent action would be taken to avert unfortunate instances.Siddiqui said no such sport could be allowed that poses risks to human lives. On Wednesday evening, a four-year-old boy died after his throat was slit by a kite’s string near Gujjar nullah in Nazimabad.
