Two days ago, Anis was left critically injured in an explosion, which police sources attributed to a gas leak, in an apartment of the Park Towers complex in Sector F-10, Islamabad.
A 29-year-old woman, Asghar Nisa, was also in the apartment at the time and had sustained 45 per cent burn injuries.
Both patients had been admitted at the PIMS’s burn centre.
Pims Spokesperson Dr Ayesha Eshani had said Anis, a BS-20 grade officer, was in a critical condition as the burn injuries summed up to almost 100 per cent. So serious was his condition that he had to be shifted on to a ventilator.
The apartment in which the explosion had occurred is in the basement of Park Towers, which is located next to the main complex.
The door of the apartment was completely destroyed in the explosion but items such as a television set in the small living room and the bed in the bedroom appeared undamaged.
There were glass shards in a narrow lane next to the apartment from shattered windows. A security guard of the complex had said that the explosion had affected around 10 adjacent apartments.
According to sources, the commissioner was staying at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House along with his family and was in town to see-off his son, who left for the UK on October 25.
Meanwhile, SSP Operations Muhammad Rizwan had said the commissioner was at the apartment to visit a friend.
There were no fire extinguishers or fire exits in the basement of the building.

No matter who the deceased was or how he died, after all he was a human being, and he must be treated as such. We should sincerely express our deepest condolences over his tragic death instead of maligning a dead which is a serious sin as per the teachings of Islam.
An honest forensic expert investigation of the incident should be conducted because it’s not the single case, before this Kamran Faisal, Assistant Director of NAB and other incidents had happen.
Death ends all controversies. We pray for the departed soul's maghfrat and hope the family can bear the loss. The nation lost a senior and experienced DMG officer.
He was a provincial service PCS not DMG officer. Secondly He was extremely unfortunate otherwise for these resourceful people it is just a matter of routine to have a mistress or mistresses, or a " keep" stationed somewhere. Very fashionable: most of them have them placed in Dubai. One who enjoys a posting even as a clerk leave alone to be a Political Agent in FATA can afford these luxuries whereas this guy has thoroughly enjoyed “the good” postings. Each day they get millions during their stay in those postings. Unfortunate got exposed. Regarding this being His personal matter: yes it could have been had He not been married to another women. And those in public office need to be more honest even in their private lives; have to be faithful to their spouses; have to avoid unlawful relationships –as those can be used by blackmailers to extract favors to the detriment of public interest.
@Sodomite: How sick. You are more interested in finding out what he was doing with his lady friend than the fact that a man has been murdered. Typical stone age barbaric mentality.
@Sodomite: that is why He Deserve to be given 'nishani haider'
This is surely the job of the TTP, who has started using a new weaponry of female incendiary bombs to eliminate high value targets.
do not reveal secrets so that your secrets remain hidden in the world and afterworld"
May Almighty Allah rest the departed soul in peace.
@Shireen: Commissioner was 100% burn, Begum Asghar Nisa 40%?? How did this happen?? One more than other?? Commissioner must have had more exposure to fire than the lady. In what circumstances could this happen; standing up, lying down or some other way like the Commissioner sacrificing himself by covering the lady from fire?? Very Gallant indeed. We need Inspector Clouseau to solve this mystery.
For those who want a juicy story, how is this for a coincidence. The departed Commissioner was the officer who overturned the conviction of Shakeel Afridi for assisting USA in the Osama Bin Laden raid at Abbotabad

@Sodomite: Don't jump to conclusion without knowing the true story. You have no clue about what his family is going through.
I thought English readers are much saner than other segments of society but i was wrong.Look at the comments: everyone wants to ensure that there was something fishy between Commissioner and young lady. Come on guys; this is none of your business. Important thing is that one poor soul is lost. Leave the privacy upto them and do not behave like illiterates.
May the departed's soul rest in peace. It was pathetic to see people questioning someone's personal affairs. What one does or how he leads his life is a matter between him and God. I don't understand why it interests people so much and why do they let their imaginations run wild. If you feel the need to criticize and judge, then charity begins at home.
Sources tell that they were involved in an illegal relationship. What shame!
Sahibzada Anees is considered to be a more respectable of the DMGs. However, it is an open secret that the so called CSPs are not considered proper bureaucrats in their tribe until they are not morally and financially corrupt.
The man is dead. One day we must all die. What questions do you want to ask now. Whats the point. May Allah blass us all and keep us on the right path. Ameen.
Death ends all controversies. Condolences to the bereaved. We pray for his maghfrat. May he rest in peace. Losing an experienced DMG officer is a loss for the nation too.
Indeed Almighty Allah knows; who is who and what is what. But a complete expert inquiry of the incident is required. An honest forensic expert inquiry of the incident should be conducted because it’s not the single case before this Kamran Faisal, Assistant Director of NAB and other incidents had happen.
friend ...female with no male....come on SSP Muhammad Rizwan ..people want to know the truth
The Commissioner of Peshawar Sahibzada Muhammad Anis has died in mysterious circumtances.
Through the reports which were published earlier and now, one cannot ascertain that who owns the apartment and who was the 29 year old lady Asghar Nisa and what the Commissioner was doing at the apartment?
The Police should investigate the case throughly as what was the reason of the gas explosin? Was it due to the leakage of gas or some one with the intention of killing the Commissioner opened up the gas so that when some one lit the gas, it should catch fire and the Commissioner should get the burns.
There is some thing which either the family or the Police is hiding?
This is a case of a grade 20 officer's death and should be investigated throughly to unearth as what was the actual reason that Commissioner went to Park Towers Apartment.
Inna lillahe wa inna alehe rajayoun. He death leaves lots of questions about the conduct and character of Commissioner Peshawar. These questions will remain unanswered and such behavior of our bureaucracy will continue unabated. Put their stomach samples and the DNA test of their clothes and you would reach a conclusion. I only hope and pray that this man is not declared a hero and a Shaheed as is the usual practice in Pakistan.
Wonder what he was doing in that apartment...?
Who is the 29 year old lady and why was the worthy commissioner in her flat? Come on ET, get the complete story.
It's quite interesting to read a news story written in Pakistani style journalism. On one hand minute details are provided and on the other hand there are major innuendos; hinted at but left without needed elaboration.
The only other person in the apartment beside the Commissioner was a 29 year old woman, who is not stated to be a relative, which leaves a big question mark whether the explosion was caused by a deliberate act by someone intending ill-will towards the Commissioner or it was an accident.
I believe the writer should look up US Vice President Nelson Rockefeller's death in 1979 in an apartment in New York under somewhat similar circumstances, to see how the media covered it (or, covered it up.)
He was up to no good in the apartment. ET why don't you file a complete story instead of this drip-drip effort. Tell us how his lady friend is doing at PIMS??
