ISLAMABAD:

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) claimed special measures taken by the police have helped reduce traffic accidents on motorways by 75 per cent over the past two months.

The measures included action against violators of lane discipline, over-speeding and overloading, NHMP said. As a result, police claimed, only four accidents were reported on the motorways in August and one in September. Moreover, the police noted a 70 per cent reduction in other crimes on the motorways during this period, with no crimes reported during September this year.

NHMP Inspector General said the motorway police is committed to providing safety to road users.
